Top five funniest moments from The Late Late Toy Show 2015

For those of us who stayed up past our bedtime to watch the Late Late Toy Show this year, we didn’t regret the decision.

From rapping farmers to impromptu dead horse songs, as well as an Evelyn Cusack-inspired boardgame and a pie-faced Ryan Tubridy thrown in for good measure, this year's show was a delightful mix of the weird and the wonderful.

Thanks to the unpredictable nature of Ireland’s children and the high-tempo fervour of host Ryan Tubridy, this year’s show was full of characters.

Here are our top five funniest moments:

Lumiere the Candle Stick

Ryan Tubridy kicked off the show in style with a rendition of Beauty and the Beast’s “Be my guest”. Dressed as Lumiere the Candle Stick, his startling resemblance to the tall, lanky candelabra was not lost on us.

Rapping farmer

This year's farmers did not disappoint. Michael told us of the Massey Ferguson-John Deere row he is embroiled in with his best friend back home in Tipperary. The Massey may be classy, but you "fear the Deere", he told us.

Fionn from Tullamore was well versed in agricultural current affairs. He wants to work for the IFA when he grows up, because he hears they are well paid. The highlight of his appearance though was his Eminem rap, which you can watch above.

Evelyn Cusack

RTÉ did not have to cast the net out too far this year to surprise one lucky child with their idol. Last year it was Ed Sheeran, but this year? Evelyn Cusack. Her surprise appearance left Johnny, who made a boardgame called "An Aimsir" in her honour, speechless.

Lara from Swords

Lara’s impromptu dead horse song showed how unpredictable children can often be, and how difficult that must be for a presenter who is interviewing them live on air. Her appearance left Tubridy somewhat unhinged, which of course made for entertaining viewing.

David Walliams

We may know him from Little Britain, but children know him as the author of books such as Billionaire Boy and Grandpa's Great Escape. He was warm and witty and gave plenty of time to his young admirers. His game of Pieface with Tubridy left them both dirty-faced and us in stitches.
