Three sporting events to watch this week: Your handy guide to sport on television

Guide to sport on television (Monday – Sunday, Feb 3rd – 9th)

Darts

The 2025 Premier League season begins in Belfast on Thursday. With 17 venues on the calendar, the final event will be at The O2 Arena in London on May 29th. The current star of professional darts, Luke Littler, is the defending champion and will be at the SSE Arena to battle with some of the best in the sport. – Thursday, Sky Sports

Soccer

The Derbi Madrileño is always a major event in the Spanish capital, but throw into the mix that Real Madrid hosting Atlético Madrid at the weekend is a first versus second match-up in La Liga and, well, it has the potential to be a season-defining game. There will be quality footballers on show – it is Luka Modrić, Kylian Mbappé and Rodrygo versus Antoine Griezmann, Julián Alvarez and Koke. – Saturday, Premier Sports

American Football

This weekend, the final game of the NFL season, Super Bowl LIX (59), takes place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. A rematch of the 2022-23 decider, the Philadelphia Eagles are standing in the way of a historic three-in-a-row by the Kansas City Chiefs. – Sunday, UTV, Virgin Media & Sky Sports
