Wear it out: A teenager turns to subcultures of old for fashion ideas

This week we met the fabulous Charlotte Keegan, whose elegant style is inspired by the fashion greats of the past

This week we met the fabulous Charlotte Keegan (model and school student). Charlotte’s style is way beyond her years. She mixes expertly selected designer pieces and high street must-haves.

Her style is elegant, and inspired by the fashion greats of the past. I only wish I had had even a tiny bit of her fashion sense when I was her age; I was all glitter, lip gloss and O’Neills tracksuits.

“My coat is from John Rocha, I bought it from a sample sale, it was a huge bargain. My polo neck is from American Apparel, it was €34, and I love how many colours they come in.

“My jeans are from 7 For All Mankind, they have lasted a long time without fading, which is great, they were €180.

“The boots are from Zara, they were €80 and are really comfortable. My bag is from Zara too, it’s so big and fits so much! It was €25.

"I don't limit myself to one style, I take inspiration from so many places, I love looking at British and Irish subcultures from the 1960s and 1970s. I find movies are a great source of inspiration, characters like Margot from The Royal Tenenbaums and Mathilda from Léon: The Professional are some of my favourite style icons."
