Six oils and serums to calm and hydrate irritated and rosacea prone skin

Trilogy Sensitive Very Gentle Calming Fluid €35.09

Trilogy have dialed the ingredient list right down on this product and it is free from essential oils and fragrance. Instead calendula and green tea are used to calm and soothe skin that’s acting like a prima donna. Bad tempered skin can be sweet talked to by a cooling formula like this one.

Scars, blemishes, rosacea and eczema will all benefit from this formula. It can help to reduce redness and the horribly “scratchy” feeling of tight irritated skin. Sensitive skin is much more fragile and this can compromise the skin’s barrier function, leading to broken veins and redness. This carefully balanced mix of ingredients will help to strengthen and improve tone and texture.

Finica Redness Rosacea Relief Serum

Although this Irish made product is branded as a serum it actually has the texture of an oil. It is clean and fragrance free with a mere handful of ingredients known for their healing qualities. It includes organic rosehip, argan and jojoba seed oils which should be applied gently to damp skin morning and evening.

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Combination Antioxidant Treatment

As I mentioned above, much of the problem with very sensitive skin is related to a compromised barrier function. When skin is easily irritated and not as strong as it should be it needs plenty of help. Trouble shoot with a high powered treatment like this one to prevent further damage. The mix of ingredients will help skin to repair and also help to shield it from further environmental battering. It’s expensive but it’s worth it.

Aldi Lacura Face Oil

5.99

A terrifically priced facial oil for those with sensitive skin. The fragrance and potentially irritating ingredients of the sister oil in this range have been removed to ensure that this version is suitable for fragile skintypes. Again the recommendation is to pat it gently on damp skin. Go easy at first though as you don’t want to trigger breakouts. .

Clinique Smart Treatment Oil €44

Although Clinique are not traditionally associated with calming skincare they’re really knocking it out of the park at the moment. Clinique CX Moisturiser is one of the best soothing products I’ve tried recently for instance. Clinique Smart Treatment oil possesses a really ‘clean’ mix of ingredients based on antioxidants and non irritating botanics. Sensitive skin will drink it up. As rosacea prone skin is often dehydrated and needs moisture don’t be afraid to include an oil if your skin feels tight and dry.
