Usher's Auction Rooms, John Street, Kells, Co Meath. June 19th, 5pm. This sale is a preamble to the Hinterland festival, during which the auction rooms will host lectures and literary events, so it's appropriate that the sale includes seven bookcases, among them a 10-foot brass-grilled breakfront bookcase and a Sheraton inlaid bureau bookcase. Forthcoming fairs

Mount Juliet Antiques and Fine Art Fair. Saturday/Sunday June 23rd and 24th, 12pm-6pm and 11am-6pm. This is the first time an antiques fair has been held at Mount Juliet, Co Kilkenny as part of the one-day cricket international The Irish Leprechauns v Holland. Admission is free, but there's an honesty door with all proceeds going to the Jack & Jill Foundation.

Royal Marine Hotel, Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin. Antiques & Vintage Fair, Sunday 24th June, 11am-6pm. Traditional antique jewellery and silver, with furniture and other items for the home, plus vintage finds, including fashion, and collectables, such as coins, banknotes and books. Admission €3.50.
