Bonhams London, Travel and Exploration Sale, February 6th: The Ernest Shackleton sledge, lot 195, from his Nimrod expedition, €163,718 (€67,000-€110,000) and lot 196, Eric Marshall's sledge flag, €85,418 (€33,000-€55,000). Both figures include the sales premium.

Lot 240, an oversized gilt compartmented mirror (€200-€400); lot 44: pair of Wassily tubular chrome and leather chairs signed by Gavina (€600-€1,000); lot 31, rosewood sideboard attributed to Rudolf Glatzel for Fristho Franeker (€800-€1,000) and artworks priced between €100 and €1,200. February 13th and 14th, Herman & Wilkinson, Rathmines, Dublin 6. Antiques and Fine Art sale with more than 750 lots. Included are two tables from the estate of Timothy O'Sullivan, chief justice of Ireland, 1936-1946. The Georgian tables, a central and a library piece, were in his home office in Donnybrook; library table (€2,000-€3,000) and centre table (€800-€1,500). From a property in Windsor Terrace, Dún Laoghaire are a pair of Pugin revival bookcases (€500-€800 each). Curiosities include 350 sets of stereoscopes at €1 each. These were where postcards were set inside a viewing box to give three dimensional images, and include the Great Exhibition at the Crystal Palace in 1862, Indian encampments and scenes of mountain climbing in Switzerland before safety equipment was invented.
