Smart design, old and new, in D6

MILLTOWN: €975,000:THE EXTENSION built in 2000 at 75 Ramleh Park, Milltown, Dublin 6 is proof that good design lasts. Box Architecture extended the three-bedroom semi at the back and added a two-storey extension to the side.

It all looks as if it was newly designed and completed, despite being happily lived in for nearly 10 years.

It’s also a good example of how a 1930s house can be modernised without compromising its original, attractive design. It’s not surprising that the design was highly commended at the 2002 Plan Expo awards.

The house is now double-fronted. Downstairs to the right off the hall are the original, modest-sized interconnecting reception rooms with double doors out to the back garden.
