A three-bedroom house at 43 Richmond Avenue, Monkstown, Co Dublin, once a modest 1950s semi, has been extended and renovated with flair since it was bought six years ago. It is now for sale by private treaty through Sherry FitzGerald with a guide of £285,000. The current owners have extended the house at the side to make room for a large, well-laid-out, eat-in kitchen and there is a new conservatory at the back. In addition, the house has been completely redecorated with a great deal of flair using strong colours and attractive use of solid wood. In the hallway, a church-style arch opens into the new kitchen/ diningroom, which runs the depth of the house and opens out on to the back garden through wooden Rational double doors. This long room has been fitted with dark pine units, a maple floor and painted a sunny yellow colour. What would have been the original kitchen at the back of the house is now a utility area, but it could easily convert to a home office.

On the other side of the hallway are two good-sized reception rooms, one with a modern fireplace, the other with a large cast-iron one. In both rooms, the floors have been stripped and polished. The back room opens into an attractive conservatory which works well as an extension to the living area, both in terms of space and all the extra light it brings in.

Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms and a small single, as well as a good-sized bathroom. The walled back garden has been attractively landscaped and is south facing.
