A charity delivery run to aid orphanages in Estonia, organised by a north Co Dublin motorcycle club and supported by the family of the late motorcycle champion Joey Dunlop, was put under threat due to a difficulty in getting insurance.

Organisers of the collection were unable to get insurance for their delivery run and only a last minute donation of two delivery vans by Crosson Opel ensured the event could continue. According to Gerald Donnelly of the Lost Riders Motorcycle Club, "we had terrible difficulty getting insurance for travelling outside the EU".

Members of the club are collecting non-perishable goods at the Swords Pavillion Shopping Centre until May 23rd and hope to depart for Estonia with the supplies a month later. The journey will take them along the same route that Joey Dunlop took during his frequent charity deliveries to the orphanages in the Baltic state. Dunlop had also done similar charity work in Romania and the Balkans.

Various ancillary events are also being organised as part of the event, including an auction of motorcycle memorabilia with the help of Joey Dunlop's widow, Linda, in the Coleraine on May 23rd.
