MORGAN CARS has appointed Brian Murphy, formerly of Belgard Motors, as its Irish dealer. Along with his son Jeff, he currently runs the Harley-Davidson dealership at Red Cow Retail Park in Dublin.

Morgan will share the premises with the US bike brand. Its Classic range of two and four seaters are powered by engines starting with a 1.6-litre 155bhp that records just 140g/km and so falls into the 16 per cent VRT cagetory, up to a 3.0-litre powertrain. Prices for the 1.6-litre version are estimated to start at €47,000.

The Irish dealer will also stock Morgan's Aero 8 supercar. Prices for this 4.8-litre 367bhp version are estimated to start at €155,000.

While there is normally up to a two-year waiting list for the cars, Murphy initially ordered some stock when he first agreed terms for the franchise, so the firm now has four cars in stock with a further 10 production slots available for Irish buyers next year.
