When there are face painters in the foyer and giant multicoloured animations brightening up the stage, you know that classical music has become something fun, and an outing that could appeal even to tiny tots.

To mark Father’s Day, (Sunday, June 21st) the National Concert Hall is staging a family concert with the 45-strong RTÉ Concert Orchestra and music educationalist Paul Rissmann. They will be performing the narrated action-packed musical adventure Giddy Goat, and children are expected to be seen and heard. It should help demystify the whole business of going along to the quite austere looking NCH. Tickets: €10 child, €15 adult, €42 family (two adults, two children) Booking: 01-4170000, or see www.nch.ie.
