Nothing beats a carol service for lifting the soul and getting you in the mood for Christmas. One of the best takes place at Cistercian Abbey in Roscrea, Co Tipperary. The free service features a choir of about 50 and an orchestra of 45 – all students at the school. They are accompanied by an organ and an eight-piece brass ensemble and you will also hear some Gregorian chant from the monks. The service takes place next Sunday, December 16th, at 4pm. Get there early and feast your eyes on the chapel’s Harry Clarke windows.
