Gadgets: making travel easier

An unmistakably tough HD cam, wearable tech from Zenga and wild gardening made easy

Oregon Scientific All-Terrain video camera

Whereas many tough video cameras do their best to look like regular, drop-it-and-it-breaks models, Oregon Scientific's shouts All-Terrain from one yellow, rubberised bumper to the next. In fairness, it's damned rugged and waterproof to 20m straight off. With 1080p HD and optional attachments, from helmets to boards to bikes, it's got every chance of capturing your majestic tumbles in all conditions. It even has a gravity sensor which measures G-forces during your extreme escapades. Comes with HDMI, 5MP stills, laser alignment and a remote control.

Zegna Icon jacket

From Samsung's smart watch to Jawbone's Up wristband, wearable tech is everywhere – in geekland at least. Fashion label Zegna is bang up to date, then, with its Icon Jacket. It has a discreet control panel on the sleeve which lets you answer calls and control tunes wirelessly thanks to the integrated Bluetooth. And it's got a holder to keep headphones within easy ear. The jacket is minimalist and waterproof. It costs to be understated and gadgeted.
