HERITAGE WEEK ends this weekend with several events still to go (see heritageweek.ie for an event in your area).
One that caught our eye was the arrival of the yurt and its little neighbour, the squirt, from Scotland – two amazing looking tents made from felt which will be at the Knockmaroon Gate of the Phoenix Park, Dublin tomorrow.
Liz Brown calls them her storytelling yurts and from 11am-5pm tomorrow they will be the location of all kinds of child-friendly, hands-on activities – as well as storytelling sessions – as part of Feltmakers Ireland open day (feltmakersireland.com).
If the weather is good – and let’s hope it is, felt and rain don’t sound like the best mix – bring a picnic and wander over to Farmleigh where there will be music in the gardens from the Ardee Concert Band from 2pm-4pm.
