Forestry Family Fun Day, Tibradden Forest, Dublin Mountains

Forestry Family Fun Day, Tibradden Forest, Dublin Mountains

Encouraging kids out for a walk in the forest can be a bit of a challenge – unless there’s something definite to see.

Well, tomorrow in Tibradden Forest, Dublin Mountains Partnership and Coillte are hosting a forestry family fun day and they’ll be laying on a fantastic range of outdoorsy activities.

Children can try their hands at den building, sawing logs and archery. There’ll be a zip line/rope walk which is always fun and, for children who like a quieter life or maybe those a little too small to throw themselves into the activities, there will be lessons on deer and wildlife, and tips on how to identify different trees.

There’s also a range of fun activities for all the family this Sunday. The trick will be explaining to them that a walk in the woods isn’t usually this exciting. The main instruction from the Dublin Mountain Partnership is: be prepared to get dirty.

The Forestry Fun day starts at noon until 4pm. Directions on how to get to Tibradden by road are on dublinmountains.ie where there is also a timetable for the Dublin Mountaineer bus which will be running from Sandyford and Tallaght to Tibradden.
