Bernice Harrison'sweekly suggestions on what to do with the children
County Wexford Strawberry Festival 2010This weekend's festival in Enniscorthy has to be the best smelling, most delicious tasting summer event. Wexford is known for its strawberries and for the past 43 years there has been a festival in Enniscorthy to celebrate the crop's abundance.
The festival has grown year-on-year and, as so many families traditionally holiday in the sunny southeast, there is an emphasis on child-friendly events.
Wandering around the town enjoying the street theatre and eating strawberries and cream is as child-friendly as it comes but there are events worth watching out for, such as this afternoon’s children’s entertainment in Market Square from 2-5pm. Tomorrow is very busy with the Lambert Puppet Theatre on the Waterfront stage at 1pm and 3pm; the free style dance studio on Market Square stage at 2pm; the kempo demonstration and Celtic roots dancers on the Waterfront stage at 2pm; and the Teddy Bears’ Picnic on Pig Market Hill at 4pm. Look out for the runners tomorrow taking part in the Strawberry Festival half-marathon.
