Trust us, we’re Irish
Irish tourists are among the most honest in Europe, according to Hotels.com. It says only 2 per cent of us lie to get an upgrade when we check into hotels. Spaniards are most likely to be economical with the truth, with 10 per cent having pretended to be on honeymoon to get better accommodation. Five per cent of French travellers confess to doing the same; the figure for Britons is 3 per cent. But while 65 per cent of Irish travellers say they would never lie to get something for nothing, 32 per cent of us admit to swiping towels, dressing gowns or slippers from our rooms, against 19 per cent of Spaniards and 26 per cent of French tourists.
Grace Kelly’s show of style
Fashionistas heading for London should check out Grace Kelly: Style Icon, an exhibition tracing the evolution of the princess’s fashion sense that opens today at the VA (vam. ac.uk). On display are more than 50 outfits, including dresses from Princess Grace’s films, as well as the lace gown she wore for her civil marriage to Prince Rainier. The original Kelly bag is also on show – the princess is one of a handful of famous women that Hermès created a bag for.
