Dine at dusk by Liberty

VISITORS to New York this summer can take a ferry to Liberty Island and dine at dusk by the statue, under a new scheme being run by the National Park Service, which controls the island.

On eight Thursdays, from June to August, visitors can take a ferry from Battery Park and stay a couple of hours at a cost of $35 (€28) for adults and $15 (€12) for children. The fee includes dinner at the concession stands on the island, although visitors may bring their own food. Visitors will be able to roam the grounds, but they will not be allowed into the statue. The evenings are expected to be a sellout, with tickets limited to 1,200 people per evening.
