SURVEY:FANS OF tight swimwear might be interested to learn that Bulgaria is the cheapest holiday destination in which to buy Speedo togs, a new survey reveals.

The Visa Europe Suitcase Index compares the cost of 16 popular holiday items across 17 major holiday destinations around the world. In news which is hardly likely to surprise, the survey found that Ireland is the third most expensive place in the world to buy a basket of popular travel items.

While Speedo togs cost €9 in Bulgaria, the same item will set you back over twice that in Ireland. Australia is the most expensive country in the world for Speedo togs at €25.

Eastern Europe may be cheapest for Speedo but it is the most expensive place in the world to buy sun cream, the survey indicates. A 100ml bottle of Piz Buin is just under €23 in Bulgaria compared with €2.55 in India. In Ireland the same sun cream costs a little over €15.
