ADVENTURE TOURISM:TICKETS ARE on sale for an adventure weekend with a difference taking place in the RDS at the end of May.
The organisers of the three-day event promise to turn the normally sedate D4 venue into an enormous adrenalin-fuelled playground with interactive zones where visitors can try zorbing (rolling down hills in giant plastic balls), paint balling, simulated parachute jumping in a vertical wind tunnel and riding in rage buggies. The event, organised by Catapult, is from May 20th to 22nd and is aimed at showcasing the best Ireland has to offer to outdoor and adventure enthusiasts.
The Irish adventure tourism market has grown in visitor numbers and revenue in recent years, with almost a million overseas visitors saying they take part in active pursuits while in Ireland.
The sector generates revenue from overseas visitors of around €700 million while domestic holidaymakers spend a further €400 million.
In addition to the interactive zones, there will also be demonstrations from Ireland’s top adventure experts who will showcase their skills on skateboard, BMX bikes, mountain bikes and inline skates as well as dozens of stalls manned by Ireland’s adventure enthusiasts.
Adult tickets, on sale through ticketmaster.ie, cost €15 and there are discounts for students, OAPs and families.
