See the world with a travel award:Wanted: 35 young Irish people to travel to Japan, Ecuador, South Africa, Mexico, Hong Kong, Argentina, Nigeria and the United States this year.

The trips of a lifetime are on offer from the Cork-based organisation Experiment in International Living (EIL). EIL, the world's oldest educational exchange organisation, involves more than 30,000 people a year on a variety of educational and cultural travel programmes. The awards on offer for 2008 include a six-week programme in the Japanese alps, four weeks in Ecuador and two weeks in Vermont, in the US. Liffey cruise back on the river

The Liffey Voyage city cruise has reopened after its winter break. The service, which attracted more than 30,000 passengers last year, operates between Bachelors Walk, in central Dublin, and the Docklands, exploring the historical sights and landmarks along the river. A New Zealand breakfast-television show is running a competition to fly a person of Irish ancestry to Ireland in May to trace his or her family history.
