Go Kids: FINGERS cross for a good clear day because the annual, all-island whale watch takes place tomorrow

Go Kids:FINGERS cross for a good clear day because the annual, all-island whale watch takes place tomorrow. Organised by Whale Watch Ireland, there are over a dozen viewing sites around the country from Slea Head on the Dingle Peninsula to Lough Swilly in Donegal.

There are an astonishing 24 species of whales and dolphins swimming off our coasts. All events are land-based (so no boat trips) and there will be experienced spotters from Whale Watch Ireland on hand to show you how and where to look and help you identify the cetacean species that live in Irish waters.

There’s no guarantee that a whale or a dolphin will pop its nose above the water of course but you will be in the best place to spot them if they do. it should be a good – and free – day out for all the family. Events are from 2pm-5pm.

What to bring: ideally, binoculars, anorak, sturdy footwear – and sun cream. Take a picnic as some of the locations are quite remote.
