Sixteen people were taken to hospital following a collision in which a heavily laden articulated lorry went into the back of a bus at the Naas Road, just south of Newlands Cross, Clondalkin, Dublin, yesterday afternoon.

There were 35 people on the bus, and 15 of them were taken by a fleet of six ambulances to Tallaght, Blanchardstown and James's Street hospitals.

Neither the bus passengers nor the driver of the lorry were seriously injured. They were treated for shock and minor injuries.

Both the bus, which was the 9.30 a.m. Bus Eireann service from Limerick, and the 16-wheel lorry carrying timber from Clonmel, Co Tipperary, were both heading for Dublin when they crashed shortly after midday.
