An out-of-control teenage boy whose case has been before the High Court for some years this week ran on to train tracks at Malahide, Co Dublin, forcing a train to make an emergency stop, it was claimed yesterday.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, was mentioned to Mr Justice Kearns yesterday when the judge was dealing with the case of the boy's brother, who is also regarded as out of control.

Proceedings aimed at securing appropriate care for the boys have been before the court for some years.

The judge was told yesterday both brothers and another boy were together on Wednesday at Malahide when one of the brothers ran across the train tracks and forced a train to make an emergency stop. That boy may face charges as a result.

The other brother, whose case the judge was dealing with, was present but had not run across the tracks, Mr Mark de Blacam SC, for that boy, said.
