Cityjet Handling will apply to the High Court today for orders for the attachment and committal of a number of persons for alleged breaches of court orders intended to restrain disruption of its ground handling services at Dublin Airport.

The proceedings arise following a continuing dispute over trade union recognition, pay and working conditions involving Cityjet and other companies at the airport. In court yesterday, Mr Brian O'Moore SC, for the company, said his client had not wanted to seek attachment and committal but, given continuing breaches of the court orders, now wished to make that application.

Mr Alistair Rutherdale said he was representing seven persons but had yet to receive instructions about the allegations. In those circumstances, he accepted the company was entitled to continuation of an injunction restraining interference by Dublin Airport Workers Network (DAWN) and others from engaging in industrial action against Cityjet Handling.

The injunction was granted last Friday and returned to Monday when there was no appearance by or on behalf of DAWN. At Monday's hearing, Mr O'Moore said the terms of the order had been dishonoured over the weekend and some of his client's employees had received abusive phone calls.
