THE MANAGEMENT of the exclusive Doonbeg golf club in west Clare has written to its members requesting them to “stay away” from the golf club on August 21st.

The request is understood to be connected with the upcoming wedding celebrations of Andrea Corr at the luxurious hotel and spa.

The letter to members coincides with local rumours that Bono or U2 will perform at the lavish wedding reception on the third Friday in August.

Achieving worldwide fame as a lead singer with The Corrs, Corr is due to marry Brett Desmond, son of billionaire Dermot Desmond.

Many of the golf club’s members have paid a joining fee of €55,861, but that will not gain them admittance on the date.

In the letter, the golf club has requested that members stay away from the golf club on the day due to security reasons as there was a private function going on. The letter does not give any further details.

Corr and Bono have been good friends for a number of years. The band has a free night in its tour schedule on August 21st.
