Four people have been arrested after a Garda operation on Wednesday as part of ongoing investigations into an organised criminal group in the Wicklow area.
Drugs with an estimated street value of €48,000 and four firearms, including a Sten machine gun, were recovered during the operation, which involved personnel from Revenue, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Wicklow Divisional Drugs Unit.
In the operation, a premises in the Wicklow area was searched, and drugs including MDMA, ketamine and LSD with an estimated street value of €48,000 were recovered and seized by Revenue officers.
During a follow-up search of a vehicle, four firearms, including a Sten machine gun and three semi-automatic pistols, two of which were loaded, were recovered, along with a silencer and a quantity of ammunition. All of these items were seized by gardaí.
Four people were arrested: a man (26) and a woman (23) were detained under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, while another man (30) and a woman (25) were detained under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
They were being detained for questioning at Bray and Wicklow Garda stations.
