Gardaí issue fresh appeal for information relating to death of woman in Dublin

Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal for information relating to the death of a woman in Dublin last week, days after her daughter was charged with her murder.

Mary Bergin, who was in her 70s, was found dead at her house at First Avenue, off Seville Place, in the north inner city at around 11.50am on Wednesday, April 13th.

Her daughter Moire Bergin (45), also of First Avenue, Seville Place, was charged the following Friday and remanded in custody where she was expected to receive urgent psychiatric care.

On Tuesday, detectives at Store Street once again urged members of the public to make contact with any information that might be related to her death.

“Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and are also appealing to those with camera footage including dash-cam footage from First Avenue/Seville Place or the surrounding areas at the time of the incident to make it available to them,” they said in a statement.

Funeral arrangements published for Ms Bergin say she is to repose at Jennings Funeral Home, Amiens Street, Dublin 1 on Thursday, 21st April.

Funeral Mass will take place the following morning at 10am in St Laurence O'Toole Church, Seville Place, North Wall, Dublin, after which she will be buried at St. Michael's Cemetery in Cootehill, Co. Cavan.
