Herbal cannabis worth €230,000 detected at post centre

Revenue officers and detector dog discover the drugs in three separate consignments

Herbal cannabis with a street value of approximately €230,000 has been detected at Portlaoise Mail Centre.

The drugs were discovered in three separate consignments by Revenue officers and a detector dog named Stella.

The team found 6kg of herbal cannabis in a wicker box which originated in Thailand, 4kg of the drug in a parcel of plastic bottles from Nigeria, and 1.5kg in a parcel of toys from Spain.

Investigations are ongoing following the discoveries.
