Man (52) arrested over west Belfast weapons find

A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection witha weapons find in west Belfast.

Firearms and ammunition were discovered by police during a search at a house in Forest Street on Saturday night.

A PSNI spokesman said a British army bomb disposal team were called to the scene to examine a number of items, including suspected pipe bomb components. All items have now been removed for further examination, he said.

A number of residents were asked to leave their homes for a short period overnight, he said.
