Man remanded over murder of wife in Cavan

A man charged with the murder of his estranged wife has been further remanded in custody.

Oliver Kierans (56) of Drumbannon, Bailieborough, Co Cavan, appeared before Harristown District Court in Co Roscommon yesterday morning.

He is charged with the murder of his wife Patricia (54) of The Willows, The Gallops, Cavan town at Drumbannon, Bailieborough on September 5th.

Mr Kierans is also charged with possession of a shotgun at the Square Bar, Bailieborough on the same date.

An application to remand him in custody for two weeks was granted by Judge Geoffrey Browne.

He will appear again before Harristown District Court on September 27th.
