Two men arrested as €55,000 of cannabis and cocaine seized

Drugs discovered after gardaí execute search warrant in Ballinamore, Co Leitrim

Drugs said by gardaí to be worth €55,000 were seized and two men arrested this morning in Co Leitrim.

Cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €50,000 and cocaine believed to be worth €5,000, subject to analysis, were discovered after gardaí executed a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977 at about 9am at a residence at Ballinamore.

Two men, both in their 20s, were arrested and taken to Carrick-on-Shannon Garda station, where they are being detained under provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Gardaí at Ballinamore were assisted by members of the Armed Support Unit in the operation. Investigations are continuing, and the drugs will be forwarded for further analysis.
