Readers of The Irish Times can find out how many burglaries and drugs offences were reported to each Garda station every year from 2003 to 2011 by using an online interactive table on irishtimes.com.
The table, which was developed by the All-Island Research Observatory in NUI Maynooth, uses detailed CSO crime figures and includes 10 categories that can be filtered using drop-down menus. The table does not include data on homicides, sexual offences and kidnapping, partly due to sensitivity for individual victims who might be identified at Garda station level. Also excluded is the category of “offences against Government, justice procedures and organisation of crime” – a category dominated by offences committed by people in custody and those who breach court orders.
