Iarnrod Eireann is to close Dublin's Heuston Station over the May bank holiday weekend for work on the doubling of lines between Dublin and Kildare. Routes affected include the Dublin to Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Kerry, Galway and Westport lines. The Arrow service between Dublin and Kildare will also be cancelled.

The work includes the replacement of the Sarsfield Road bridge between Heuston and Inchicore and the addition of five platforms at the station.

The rail services will be substituted with a limited number of bus services between Dublin and Kildare but passengers are advised to travel on another weekend if possible.

The Heuston redevelopment and Kildare route projects will increase capacity on the commuter lines into Kildare by separating commuter services from the inter-city services.
