Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Pat Rabbitte will open the conference and the keynote speaker will be RTÉ director general Noel Curran, while broadcaster John Bowman will set out Ireland’s history of television in a global context.

Other speakers include Riverdance producer Moya Doherty; TV3 director of programmes Ben Frow; RTÉ director of programmes Steve Carson; TV3 chief executive David Redmond; Michael Lally of Nuacht RTÉ and TG4, and Hugh Linehan, online editor of The Irish Times.

The conference, which is hosted by the school of history in UCC in conjunction with RTÉ TV50, takes place at UCC on September 8th, and early registration is advisable. For further information contact Finola Doyle-O'Neill at f.doyle-oneill@ucc.ie
