Boy (8) seriously injured after being hit by car in Navan

Gardaí have said a young boy who was hit by a car on Thursday afternoon is in a serious condition in hospital.

The eight-year-old was struck by a vehicle somewhere on the Dublin Road in Navan, Co Meath.

The circumstances of the incident are unclear although an ambulance was dispatched and brought him to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth where he is being treated for serious injuries.
