Dublin syndicate collect €86 million jackpot winnings

Winners say 'we're on top of the world' after collecting the third biggest win in Lotto history

After a week of speculation, a syndicate from Dublin picked up an €86 million EuroMillions prize today.

Speaking at National Lottery offices today, the winners, who wish to remain private, said: "We're on top of the world."

The National Lottery have not yet revealed where the winning ticket, a €6 Quick Pick, was purchased.

It is the third biggest win in National Lottery history and is the second syndicate this week to pick up a prize at lottery headquarters.

Earlier this week, a winning syndicate from Donegal picked up a €4.9 million prize.

Ireland has now being called one of the luckiest places in Europe to buy a EuroMillions ticket.

It is the fourth jackpot win for Ireland in just over a year.

Last March, Staunton’s Costcutter Express in Castlebar, Co Mayo sold a €15 million winning ticket.

In September 2013, a young man from the South East shared a jackpot of more than €25.6 million with a player in Spain, taking home €12.8 million.

He purchased his lucky ticket in Ardkeen Superstores in Co Waterford.

While in June 2013, a lucky player won €94 million.

That lucky ticket was purchased in Mace in Beaumont, Dublin 9.
