Man dies after car hits lorry near Kells, Co Meath

Crash happened last night when car collided with parked truck on Virginia Road

A man aged in his 30s has died after the car he was driving collided with the back of a truck at Carnaross, near Kells, Co Meath.

The crash happened shortly before 9.30pm on the R147 Virginia Road when the car collided with the parked truck.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Navan for a postmortem.

The R147 was closed between Kells and Virginia, Co Cavan as Garda forensic collision investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Gardaí are particularly interested in talking to road users who were travelling between Kells and Virginia between 9pm and 10pm, and who may have camera footage, including dashboard camera footage.
