Man in his 20s killed in road crash in Co Meath

Driver and passenger injured after car left the road at Cornelstown early on Wednesday

A man in his 20s has been killed in a car crash in Co Meath.

Gardaí said he was fatally injured when the car he was a passenger in left the road at Cornelstown in the early hours of Wednesday.

The driver and a second passenger received non life-threatening injuries, a Garda spokeswoman said.

The man was pronounced dead at scene and his body was removed to Navan hospital.

The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

A total of 157people have died on the State’s roads so far this year compared to about 190 during the same period in 2014.
