Sunny spells and scattered showers forecast for weekend

Saturday night expected to remain dry for U2 concert; isolated showers likely on Sunday

The weekend is set for drier conditions with some showers forecast as more than 80,000 people are expected to attend U2’s sold-out concert in Croke Park on Saturday.

Saturday and Sunday will see sunny spells and scattered showers, with the west and north of the country experiencing the most rainfall.

A Met Éireann forecaster told The Irish Times: "The weekend will see an improvement in conditions. Since rain started on Thursday evening we've had at least 36mm of rainfall in Shannon Airport and there's over 24mm in Knock Airport, then in parts of the east of the country, there's been 21mm. So there's been quite a lot of rain."

In terms of conditions in Dublin on Saturday night, the forecaster said it is due to remain dry with the risk of “the odd shower”.
