Gardaí close road to allow forensic crash investigator examine scene in Mallow

The 17-year-old driver of a car has been killed and three others injured when their vehicle crashed in North Cork this afternoon.

The accident happened on the Mallow to Lisgriffin Road neart Mallow General Hospital around 4.30pm. There were no other vehicles involved.

The driver of the car who was from the North Cork area was pronounced dead at the scene and three others have been taken to hosptial for treatment.

The road has been closed to allow a garda forensic crash investigator examine the scene and diversions have been put in place by the gardaí.

The death is the second fatality on Cork roads this weeks and follows the death of a 27-year-old motorcyclist on the South Ring Road in Cork City on Tuesday morning.
