The M50 motorway northbound has reopened after delays caused by a truck which caught fire this morning.

The truck was cleared from the hard shoulder of the Dublin motorway near junction seven (Palmerstown) northbound before 2pm and all lanes have reopened.

Traffic is “moving well in both directions”, AA Roadwatch said in a tweet.

There were no reports of any injuries, the Garda said. The fire began in the back of the truck some time before 11am.

Earlier today the motorway was down to one lane as emergency services put out the fire and traffic was back as far as junction 10 (Ballymount)

Gardaí at the scene were urging motorists to avoid the stretch of road before the Palmerstown exit if possible.
