Witness appeal as Limerick collision leaves woman (80) critical

Two men got out of car immediately after the crash and fled the scene on foot

An 80-year-old woman is in a critical condition in hospital following a collision in Limerick city.

The crash happened shortly after midnight on Easter Sunday at Garryowen Road in the city.

An 80-year-old woman and her daughter, who was driving, were in a blue Volkswagen Golf which was struck by another car, a Ford Focus, travelling in the opposite direction.

Two men got out of the Ford Focus immediately after the crash and fled the scene on foot.

The women were taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick where the daughter was treated for minor injuries and the mother’s condition is described as critical but stable.
