A 41-year-old man was today charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a 26 year old pharmacist in a two car collision on the main Cork-Dublin road near Mitchelstown earlier this year.

Damian Hynes from Sarsfield Casey Drive, Mitchelstown appeared before Fermoy District Court today where he was charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Ciara O'Brien at Coomlough, Mitchelstown on April 25th last.

Insp Tony Sullivan said the DPP had directed trial by indictment and a book of evidence had been served on the accused. He applied for a return for trial to the next sittings of Cork Circuit Criminal Court commencing on October 20th.

Judge Michael Pattwell granted the application and remanded Mr Hynes on his own bail of €1,000 and an independent surety of €5,000 to appear at Cork Circuit Criminal Court on October 20th.
