The new US ambassador to Ireland, his excellency, Mr James C Kenny presented his credentials to the President Ms Mary McAleese at Aras an Uathtarain today.
He was accompanied by his wife Mrs Margaret Kenny and his son and daughter.
Mr Kenny made the short trip from the US Ambassador's residence through the Phoenix Park to Aras an Uathtarain with an escort of honour by the motorcycle detachment from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron from Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Brian Cowen also attended the ceremony which featured a guard of honour ceremony provided by the 4th infantry batallion
