MORE THAN 20,000 people are expected to visit a series of exhibitions, performances and workshops in Cork later this month after 60 venues signed up to participate in the Cork Culture Night.

The events, being organised by Cork City Council, are designed to give visitors and locals alike an opportunity to explore cultural venues and other private facilities in the city by night for free.

“This year, art curators and venues have let their imagination and sense of fun run riot, with hundreds of extraordinary cultural events planned to run throughout the day and late into the night and early morning to keep people enthralled and entertained,” a spokeswoman for the night said.

Among the venues participating are the Cork Regional Film Archive in Blackpool which will show a view of Cork from 1902 entitled Cork – A Forgotten Memoryand a documentary from 1977 entitled The Echo Boys.
