Pedestrian hit by truck in Dublin

A man (28) was critically injured after he was hit by a truck on Dublin's south quays this morning.

A man (28) was critically injured after he was hit by a truck on Dublin's south quays this morning.

The incident happened on Crampton Quay at about 10am. The pedestrian was removed to James's Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

A Garda forensic team is at the scene, and the health and safety authority have been notified of the incident.

The south quays have been closed, and diversions are still in place. Traffic is being diverted via Dame Street, Christchurch, Winetavern Street and back onto Merchant's Quay.

Gardaí at Santry have issued an appeal to the public for information about a serious road traffic collision on the Naul Road in Co Dublin yesterday afternoon.

A man (25) was seriously injured when his motorcycle hit a roadside barrier at around 1.40pm.

He was taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital. Gardaí are asking anyone with information to contact Santry Garda station at 01 6664000, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
