Gardaí investigating the disapearance of Galway woman Bláthnaid Timothy have issued a photograph of a scarf similar to one she was believed to be wearing the night she went missing.

The scarf, described as a "Warehouse Dog Tooth Scarf" would have been slightly frayed from wear and it is thought she may have worn it as a headscarf. Gardaí are hoping the photograph may help jog people's memories.

The 33-year-old Galway woman was last seen in Howth, Co Dublin, on the night of Tuesday December 14th.

An appeal has also been issued by gardai for anyone who was in the Howth Village or Harbour Road/Howth Pier area that evening from 8.30pm onwards, and who may have seen Ms Timothyor any lone female out walking, to contact them.

Emergency services were at the scene of an incident on the West Pier from about 8pm onwards that evening and the annual general meeting of the Howth Yacht Club was also underway at the same time.

Gardaí say they believe this additional information may assist anyone who was in the area to remember the night in question.

Investigating gardaí received a breakthrough at the weekend when the taxi driver who picked Ms Timothy up from the city centre came forward after a public appeal was issued.

CCTV footage showed her getting into a black Mercedes taxi, but it took several days and an appeal by the National Taxi Drivers Association before the driver was traced. He told gardaí he dropped her off on Harbour Road at about 8.30pm that night.

She was earlier captured on CCTV footage using her ATM card to withdraw €60 at the National Irish Bank on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay on Dublin’s south quays at 8pm. Ms Timothy then crossed the road and got into a taxi.

Ms Timothy, who had worked for Coca-Cola and KPMG, is originally from Glenamaddy, Co Galway, but is living on Camden Street, Dublin.
