Advertisements for plastic surgery clinics in Warsaw, a survey of the Polish property market and a piece on a Baltic spa retreat feature in the first edition of a new Polish-run magazine aimed at Irish people travelling to the country.
Visit Poland, a free English-language monthly, is published by the team behind the lifestyle magazine Polski Express and the weekly Zycie w Irlandii/Life in Ireland, and will be initially distributed in Dublin city and suburbs.
Project manager Anna Pas said the magazine would tap into a growing Irish interest in Poland, fed by the presence of so many Poles here. "Visit Poland is an answer for the growing needs for information about Poland which we observe among English-speaking clients, contractors and friends," she said, adding that the title would present Poland as an undiscovered destination rich in culture and propelled by a growing economy.
Focusing on the northern city of Gdansk, the first issue also carries pub and restaurant reviews, an article on recruitment in Poland and a feature on a preview of a one-off Warsaw gig by Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan.
"There will be something interesting both for students planning holidays and for businessmen starting co-operation with Polish partners," said editor Juliusz Szydlowski.
The magazine is also targeting sports fans as the 2012 European Championship will be held in Poland.
