FG faithful give short shrift to sycophancy and social media

At a recent parliamentary party meeting, Simon (just turned 25) was banging on about the value of social media to the party. He partly attributed his success in the general election to his blogging and tweeting strategy.

Furthermore, said the fresh-faced deputy, the Taoiseach himself is a fine example of how to utilise social networking to its best effect. Some of the deputies present smirked. Enda, we’re told, also looked amused.

Not to mention slightly baffled.

Oh yes, continued Simon, we could all learn from Enda when it comes to the right approach to social media.

At which point an unidentified male voice boomed from near the back of the room.

“F****** lick.” And they all fell around the place.

Except Simon, who was not amused.
